Aging in place is the ability of seniors to safely remain in their own homes and live as independently as possible for as long as possible, while maintaining involvement in, and access to, their larger communities. This session will focus on home modification considerations and transportation issues. A variety of alternative transportation options and older driver resources are needed for seniors to stay connected in the community and have access to life-sustaining and life-enhancing services. The presentation will include information about how to help drivers stay on the road as long as safely possible or transition to mobility alternatives when driving is no longer an option, as well as highlight alternative transportation best practices, service gaps and needs.
